LA///Bouchon Bistro

If you've spent any time on this blog in the past few months, you've probably noticed my obsession with Thomas Keller, chef of French Laundry, Ad Hoc, and Bouchon fame.  When I realized there was a Bouchon Bar and Bistro in LA, I knew my trip would be a loss if I didn't go.

Bouchon is located in Beverly Hills, conveniently near the neighborhood I was staying in.  I dragged my cousin and some new friends there for Saturday lunch.

It did not disappoint.

fingerling potato hash, dungeness crab, fried egg, hollandaise
We stopped by the bakery afterwards for some bouchons (they're the cylinder-like brownies pictured on the website) and macarons for later.

I left a very happy girl.

First Pie of the Season!

First homemade pie of the season!  Used Thomas Keller's butter crust from Ad Hoc at Home and a caramel & granny smith apple filling from the Edible Selby article in the Times Magazine a few weeks ago.

This is the first pie we've made but definitely not the first one we've eaten.

not pictured, the Chess pie at Abbatoir in Atlanta.

Fall has been good to us.

Embracing fall, and Thomas Keller

French onion soup from the newest issue of Bon Appetit.  We subbed vegetable broth for beef and apple cider vinegar for sherry.

Savoy cabbage, a Thomas Keller Ad Hoc recipe.

Everything was delicious, and so easy!

Ad Hoc at Home, Part ? of many

Thomas Keller's potato hash with lardons(ish... i used bacon as that was all we had) and a poached egg.  Green beans on the side.

If it looks like the only things we've cooked in the past month have been deep-fried well, that's the truth! :D

Ad Hoc Chicken, Ad Hoc Biscuits

wowza!

Last weekend we made Thomas Keller's fried chicken for the first time.  If you like spicy, crunchy, moist fried chicken, you have to try it!

Wedding gifts utilized: Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc at Home, Shun cleaver (WOW.  I've never held such a dangerous looking and amazing knife), double-basket deep fryer.
