Red Top Mountain camping
We went camping this past weekend at Red Top Mountain State Park. We did a little bit of hiking but mostly hanging out and eating things like loaded baked potatoes, tilapia, and smores (not pictured). We're looking forward to camping more as the weather cools!

A new Southern favorite
This past weekend we left the city for a night on the mountaintop at the Red Top Mountain State Park. On our way we made a detour to Roswell, GA for a meal at Greenwood's on Green St.
It was the best southern food in Georgia. Maybe anywhere.
I know that's an incredible claim to make but see for yourself...
and there was a tree growing through the porch. What more can you ask for? Roswell, we'll be back!

half a rotisserie chicken in a thick plum sauce, with cheese grits and mashed potatoes
honey-glazed carrots, collards, sweet potatoes
amazing amazing cornbread with sweet butter
broccoli casserole with crispy onions on top. THE BEST.
shrimp and grits
more collards and black-eyed peas
blackberry pie
chocolate cream pie
The pie was heart-breakingly/pants-splittenly good, especially after a truly decadent midday meal. When ordering, be warned that a "slice of pie" really means a solid quarter pie.

Ad Hoc at Home, Part ? of many
Thomas Keller's potato hash with lardons(ish... i used bacon as that was all we had) and a poached egg. Green beans on the side.
If it looks like the only things we've cooked in the past month have been deep-fried well, that's the truth! :D

Last weekend we made Thomas Keller's fried chicken for the first time. If you like spicy, crunchy, moist fried chicken, you have to try it!
Wedding gifts utilized: Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc at Home, Shun cleaver (WOW. I've never held such a dangerous looking and amazing knife), double-basket deep fryer.
