Although we haven't left Taipei for the countryside yet, we've already seen plenty of odd critters.
In the park next to the National Palace Museum we encountered some local wildlife.
And in the Peace Park, near the NTU Hospital...
But besides creatures in the wild*, there are a great variety of pets, some stranger than others.
I neglected to take a picture of the watch-vender with a pet red squirrel, but we did capture
this gentle fellow (not pictured is the female hog and 2 parrots beside him)
and
and some magnificent looking stag beetles, a truly eccentric choice of pets.
I don't have any pictures of the menagerie of dogs both tiny and gigantic that we've seen in Taipei, as well as their various wardrobes and carrying methods. The mini dogs are treated like children, outfitted in little shoes and pushed in strollers through parks. I'll keep my eye & camera out for dogs in boots.
*do park animals count as wild?
